The Fishtail

An extremely easy (but time consuming) hairstyle, this is a great one to do if you are going out or just simply want something a bit different. It looks great with flowy, flowery clothes as it looks very girly. It can also be done looser than the version shown, which gives it a more ‘undone’ look about it.

Great for teenagers and people in their 20s especially.

I did this one in the car on the way out to the restaurant to give you an idea of the ease of it, a mirror isn’t even really required, but I would suggest you need long hair or extensions in to make it look its best.

The smaller the strands of hair you grab the better, but the more time it will take to complete.

I will film a tutorial on how to do this hairstyle and post it at some point.

My Favourite Fragrance

While I am often tempted by new Fragrances, especially ones in pretty bottles, there is always one that I return to again and again is Issey Miyake’s L’Eau d’Issey. This is the most wonderful scent, and especially nice because it is not at all overpowering, a small amount will leave a gentle smell that lasts all day.

Issey Miyake apparently created L’Eau d’Issey by imagining the scent of water, the source of life and gave it aquatic floral fragrance. I would say this is a fairly accurate description, as it has a clean smell that always reminds me of fresh water stream with spring flowers on the banks. ( Sorry if that sounds pompous :) )

It is quite a universal scent that suits women of many different ages. I have worn this since I was eighteen, and my mother wears it still!

The bottle itself is a very classic one, which looks nice on my dressing table and has a timeless elegance to it. If you are struggling for a Christmas Present for a sister, friend or mother this is one that I would recommend. I have no doubt that it would be well received!

My Hair’s Lifesaver

My hair is (colour-treated) blonde and very long. Lovely, but difficult to look after and manage.

I have it hightlighted and the roots done every 8 weeks or so and, while it is only treated with mild chemicals, it can get very dry and also go quite frizzy at times.

I used to struggle to get the brush through it when it was wet, and it would look quite straw-like after blowing drying until my amazing hairdresser recommended L’oreal Professional Serie Expert Absolut Repair Serum.

I use this on on my hair when it is wet, straight out of the shower and also after it has been blow dried. The effect of it on my hair is amazing. Using on wet hair means that my brush goes through so much smoother and damages much less, and using it on dry means that the hair becomes sleek and shiny and no longer frizzy at all.

It retails for around £13, which is more expensive then drugstore equivalents, but the bottle that I have has been on the go 2 years and is only just now reaching the bottom. It lasts amazingly well as you only need one pump per use, even on extremely long hair like mine!

If, like me, you struggle getting a brush through your hair wet or you hair gets frizzy after drying, then I urge you to try this! I cannot recommend it highly enough, but do make sure that you dont put any on your roots, as it can make them look greasy.

My MAC Obesession & My Eagerly Awaited Parcel….

I LOVE MAC Cosmetics. I mean LOVE.

And not just because of they are MAC, but because they are such good quality. Their eyeshadows are especially amazing and there are so many beautiful colours… I am like a kid in a candy store when I go to the MAC counter. I have just bought my first ever MAC palette and have spent an obscene amount of time arranging and rearranging my colours within it.

I wasn’t allowed to de-pot my colours myself, (my husband does not allow me anywhere near an open flame or a knife if he can help it) but I was allowed to play once they were cool and no longer in any danger of inflicting type of physical injury on me at all.

At the moment I am currently loving Glamour Check paired with my Woodwinked.  I am planning on creating a tutorial on this in the next week or so.

I am also (not very patiently) waiting upon an extremely exciting parcel from the USA, more specifically from Sigma Beauty!!!!! I have ordered my first set of Sigma brushes and am ridiculously excited for them to arrive so I can play. I will post a video on YouTube showing which ones I have gotten and my first impressions when they arrive.

New Beauty Blog Site

Up to now I have spent a lot of my time playing with different makeup looks, outfits, hairstyles, etc to make myself prettier. I also like to get my sewing machine out and create things to make my house prettier too.

People who have seen the looks i have created and the things that I have made have asked if I could show them how to recreate these things for themselves. As I have never written anything down before this is quite hard, as my memory isnt the best!

So my darling husband, who is something of computer-nerd-type-person suggested I have my own site where I could record looks I like, review products that I have been using, and show things I have made. This is primarily for my own use, but is also open to friends, family and anyone else who is interested as well.

This site will also give me the excuse to indulge in my second favourite past time, SHOPPING, as I will obviously need to buy things so that I can review them :)

I intend to update fairly regularly and have already a whole list of reviews, looks and crafts that I can blog about, so please stay tuned… and i’ll talk to you soon!
