I was recently browsing the interwebs (again all in the name of research) and came across a post about Urban Decay’s 15 Year Anniversary 24/7 Glide on Pencil Set.
Urban Decay are legendary for their pencils being some of the best around. The glide on, as the name would suggest, they last a LONG time and the can be smudged beautifully to create gorgeous smokey eye looks. As soon as I saw this set I really really wanted it, but alas they were sold out everywhere. Sad Times. However a few days later I got an email from Buyapowa saying they were selling Urban Decay’s 24/7 Shadow Pencil Stash, a mini set comprising of 5 travel size jumbo pencils. I jumped at the chance to grab one of these (especially as they were massively reduced, thanks Buyapowa) and it arrived in the mail a couple of days ago.
These are called travel size, but they are infact very close to being full size. This set can be bought for around the £22 mark online at the moment, which is a bargain if you consider it in comparison with the price of a single higher end pencil such as MAC for example.
The colours are, from front to back, Delinquent, Rehab, Juju, Sin and Clash.
Delinquent is a deep bold purple colour with lilac sparkle in it. It, like clash is the epitome of a classic ‘jewel shade,’ this would look great with any colour eyes.
Rehab is the darker, redder one of the two browns in this set. It has a touch of taupe and frost in it as well.
Juju is a golden brown colour again with a touch of taupe in it. This is several shades lighter than Rehab and is a really nice extra addition to the set. I use this when creating brown/gold smokey eyes and it works wonderfully.
Sin is a light pink champagne colour with a frosted sheen to it. This is of course similar in colour to the Sin primer potion, but seems a touch less frosty. This is wonderful on the bottom waterline to make the eyes look wide awake and natural rather than using a harsh white.
Clash is a brillant turquoise/teal blue with shimmer in it. This is very very vibrant and bright.
These pencils are extremely long wearing. As I write this I am looking down on my arm where these were swatched this morning, and considering I have been washing up, pulling my sleeve back and forth and generally being busy, I cannot see any smudging or fading yet.
From left to right, Delinquent, Rehab, Juju, Sin and Clash.
Even though these are incredibly long wearing they are really easy to remove when you finally want to, I used a baby wipe on my other swatches and they came off with a couple of swipes.
I was a bit concerned at how messy these jumbo pencils would be to apply, I’m not the neatest at the best of times, but these glide on so smoothly with hardly any tugging at the skin so it is quite easy to create a fairly thin line if applying as an eyeliner. These can be used all over the eye as an eyeshadow and can also be smudged out easily, although you need to work quickly as once these are set they are not budging!
Overall this is a fantastic set which will be able to be used with hundreds of different looks, I think the choices in here were brillant ones from Urban Decay as there really is a little of everything. Although it is not quite the full 15 year Anniversary set I am still really really please with this and know for a fact that most if not all of these will become a staple in my makeup bag from now on.
10/10 Urban Decay, well done!
